The Dark Shadows movie, the latest movie from the mind of Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, is based on a gothic soap opera from the late 60s and early 70s. However, the new movie has basically nothing to do with the old TV series, and is trying to separate itself as much as possible from its origins, making the film a dramedy.

In the movie, Johnny Depp plays a 200 year old vampire named Barnabas Collins who rises out of his grave in 1972, and engages in antics with his modern descendants. The feel of the movie has been described by many as "gonzo comedy", but children and their parents alike will probably find the film amusing and enjoyable. In fact, it is expected that sales of Adult costumes and costumes for kids will rise dramatically with the release of this movie spurring an interest in Gothic themes and of course we now have the newly released Dark Shadows costumes for the movie.
